Erik Hess
Prior to co-founding New Frontier, Mr. Hess was the Managing General Partner of Proton Venture Partners, a US private equity fund. He has extensive investment, strategic, and operational experience in emerging markets, having supported sovereign clients as well as institutional investors in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East. Prior to Proton Venture Partners, Mr. Hess was a Managing Director and Head of Quantitative Research at International Strategy & Investment (ISI Group). He published bottom-up and top-down analyses of global equities using a 2 factor behavioral finance discipline. Mr. Hess presented research and analysis to ISI’s institutional client base located in the US, Europe, and Asia. From ISI he was recruited as Vice President & Senior Analyst to Carlyle Blue Wave, a hedge fund of The Carlyle Group. He focused on investment opportunities outside of the United States across several industries using a systematic investment process catering to a GARP/Value investment discipline. Following Carlyle, Mr. Hess directed strategic planning for ALG, a private equity group with aviation and hospitality businesses in the UAE and Azerbaijan. Mr. Hess began his career on Wall Street with Bear Stearns, where he was an Analyst in the Investment Banking Department and also served on the Latin America credit derivatives desk, where he worked to structure and market derivative solutions for sovereign and institutional clients. Mr. Hess speaks three languages and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in International Finance from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
